Hello,

fanele

I am a PhD student in financial economics at Harvard University. I am interested in a range of policy issues on the African continent.

My academic research interests are in empirical finance in low-income countries. In particular, I'm keen to explore non-financial firm debt in low-income countries in times of external shocks, relatedly, the effects of dollar dominance on emerging market firms and perhaps sovereign default.

I've worked at McKinsey & Company in the United States, the Central Bank of eSwatini, the Common Market of East and Southern Africa in Lusaka and as a pre-doctoral fellow for Professors Michael Kremer and Shawn Cole. I have an AB from Harvard in philosophy.

I'll use this space to share non-academic 'popular' writing, as well as my academic research.
